Student fatally stabs schoolmate in Bandar Utama school

In another shocking incident of school violence, a Form Four girl has died after being stabbed by another student at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, today.

According to Berita Harian, the incident occurred around 9.30am when a 14-year-old male student allegedly brought a sharp object - believed to be a knife - to school before attacking his schoolmates.

Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect also stabbed other students during the incident.

The Petaling Jaya district police chief and his team are at the scene. A press conference is expected later today.

This latest case came barely two weeks after another disturbing incident in Malacca, where four teenagers were arrested for allegedly raping a Form Three student in a classroom on Oct 2.

Police obtained a six-day remand order against the suspects on Oct 11. They are being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape.

Two days earlier, Perikatan Nasional lawmakers urged authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the death of a Standard Four pupil who was found unconscious in a school toilet in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, earlier this month and later pronounced dead.

PN chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said the probe must establish whether the boy was already dead when discovered.

“The investigation must also consider the possibility that the death resulted from a criminal act, namely, murder.

“It is alarming that this case is reportedly being classified merely as a bullying case under Section 507C of the Penal Code, instead of being treated as a murder case under Section 302 of the same law,” he said in a statement.

On Oct 3, Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said a post-mortem revealed the 10-year-old died from pressure applied to his neck, with no other injuries found.
